Never to be Forgotten

There are experiences in life never to be forgotten and people that touch our hearts and do something for us that we could not do for ourselves.

Jonathan and I had an incredible experience this last weekend in Nauvoo. There we met Grandma Wilson and Aunt Cloe for dinner with extended relatives on the Wilson side. It was a Wilson family reunion and what a marvelous place to celebrate family. We attended the most amazing Nauvoo Pageant that evening and were uplifted and inspired by the true stories of the most endearing people who first settled Nauvoo, Illinois. It is hard to describe the feeling of love and gratitude for such people who in humble circumstance, but with great faith and devotion to God, made the ultimate of sacrifices to build a community and most importantly a temple to their God.  It was a special evening I shall always remember and cherish.

On Sunday after church we drove to Carthage, Illinois to see the jail where Joseph Smith and his dear brother Hyrum were martyred. There was a feeling of such reverence and magnitude as I have ever felt. It was as vibrant and stirring as being inside the temple. Such an experience, I shall never forget as well.

We had such a wonderful time being with Aunt Cloe and Grandma Wilson. It was a treat to have them a stay a few days with us. We showed them some sights around Quincy, and we toured the sights of Hannibal, Missouri, home to the famous writer Mark Twain. We took a tour of his boyhood home and visited a neat museum. We found charm we didn't know existed there. It was a wonderful, hot, and fun-filled day by the banks of the Mississippi river.

Kian was a trooper. We walked his little legs off.

Sophia had her moments, this was a good one. :)

By the end of our tour we were all happily exhausted, that is most of us were. :)
