We had a little party to celebrate. Pizza and root beer floats. The kids were in heaven. It was simple and they simply loved it.
Kaidence and Chase were so excited and a little nervous too! We were just as anxious and excited for them. Jonathan even made a last minute stop after work last night to get Chase some new shoelaces and socks. He polished up his shoes for him and of course, I made sure Kaidence got a manicure with some nail polish to match her outfit. :) The kids picked out their clothes and got their backpacks all ready. I managed to squeeze in a lot of last minute advice about safety and all those things Mom's think they need to tell their children a hundred times before they set them free.
Before bedtime, I held each one close and read a special book I got for them about school. After I finished reading to Chase, he snuggled close and said, "Mom, I like you"...(well that's a relief)...then he started to giggle and looked at me with those big brown eyes and he said, "Mom, I love you!"
The best part about being a Mom is those times when you are absolutely sure your child knows he/she is loved.
